Game 1

Wildcats Earn Walk-Off Win Over Cannons

 

The South Burlington Wildcats took the game in dramatic fashion, with an 11-10 walk-off victory over the Colchester Cannons. The game was tied at 10 in the bottom of the seventh when Liam O'Connor singled, scoring one run.

 

Bats were on fire as the Wildcats collected 14 hits and the Cannons tallied 12 in the high-scoring game.

 

South Burlington got on the board in the first inning after Kaiden Quinn grounded out, scoring one run.

 

A double by Aiden Gray extended the Wildcats' lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

 

Colchester flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 5-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Rishon Robenstein that drove in one.

 

South Burlington turned the game around in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 7-5 lead, with biggest blow in the inning came from a double by Jack Foster that drove in two.

 

Liam Buck singled, which helped the Cannons tie the game at seven in the top of the fourth.

 

Colchester  jumped back into the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Griffin Taylor hit a sacrifice fly, and Owen Fullerton singled, each scoring one run.

 

The Wildcats took the lead, 10-9, in the bottom of the fifth thanks to singles by Kyle Tanis, and Liam Wheeler.

 

Austin Gryzch grounded out, which helped the Cannons tie the game at 10 in the top of the sixth.

 

Abbot Terkel earned the win for South Burlington. He allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Gabe Scribner took the loss for Colchester. He went two innings, letting in one run on four hits, striking out none and walking two. Cedric LaMothe led things off on the hill for the South Burlington Wildcats. The starting pitcher gave up 10 hits and eight runs (six earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking five. Matt Chamberlain stepped on the mound first for the Colchester Cannons. The righty gave up six hits and seven runs (five earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two. Wheeler appeared in relief for the Wildcats.

South Burlington accumulated 14 hits in the game. The Wildcats's Gray made the most of his chances at the plate. The number seven hitter led the team with three hits in three at bats. Wheeler and Foster each drove in two runs for South Burlington. LaMothe, O'Connor, and Quinn each collected multiple hits for the Wildcats. South Burlington had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Adam Littlefield, Quinn, and Gray led the team with two bases on balls each.

 

Colchester accumulated 12 hits in the game. Taylor went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Cannons in hits. Buck and Taylor each drove in two runs for the Colchester Cannons. Colton Lefebvre and Gryzch each collected multiple hits for Colchester. The Cannons also had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Buck, Trace Roach, and Robenstein led the team with two free passes each.

 

Game 2

Liam O'Connor’s Big Day Propels South Burlington Past Colchestere

 

Liam O'Connor collected three hits in three at bats, as the South Burlington Wildcats defeated the Colchester Cannons 16-6 in the nightcap. O'Connor singled twice in the second inning, and doubled in the fourth inning.

 

South Burlington scored 10 runs in the second inning on the way to victory.  O'Connor singled, scoring one run, Aiden Gray drew a walk, scoring one run, Liam Wheeler hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Kyle Tanis singled, scoring two runs, Bennett Campbell singled, scoring two runs, and O'Connor singled, scoring two runs.

 

The Cannons got on the board in the first inning after Owen Fullerton doubled, scoring one run.

 

The Wildcats added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Tanis grounded out, and Adam Littlefield singled, each scoring one run.

 

Campbell earned the win for the South Burlington Wildcats. The right-handed pitcher gave up seven hits and six runs (zero earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out five and walking two. Gabe Scribner took the loss for the Cannons. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, surrendering seven runs (two earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking three. Mason Sweetser pitched one inning of no-run ball for South Burlington Wildcats in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out none and walking none.

 

South Burlington piled up 10 hits in the game. Tanis drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Wildcats with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 in the game. Littlefield and Kaiden Quinn each collected multiple hits for South Burlington. The Wildcats had a strong eye at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Jack Foster and Gray led the team with two bases on balls each. O'Connor stole three bases. South Burlington ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game.

 

Jack Robinson and Griffin Taylor each collected two hits for Colchester. Jonah Recicar, Fullerton, Colton Lefebvre, and Austin Gryzch each drove in one run for the Cannons.
